About Us
Mission: Friends of the Yolo County Animal Services is a non-profit organization that supports the Yolo County Animal Services in its mission to ensure the welfare of the animals of Yolo County.

Background: FYCAS was founded by volunteers who have worked with the Yolo County Animal Services staff and realize how devoted they are to improving the welfare of animals in this county. Like most counties in the state, Yolo County is struggling with massive budget cuts.  Currently, the Yolo County Animal Services has funds for only about half of the officers they need and the remaining officers and staff must take unpaid furlough leaves to meet the budget constraints.  At the same time, the staff is working as hard as they can to increase the adoption rate of animals that arrive at the shelter, along with the Yolo County SPCA.  Yolo County Animal Services is a very volunteer-friendly shelter.  The founders of the Friends of the Yolo County Animal Services think that we can do more to help them.  Please join us!

Legal & Tax Status: Friends of the Yolo County Animal Services is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, not-for-profit public benefit organization, EIN: 20-3385028; California corporation number 2798550.

All donations are fully tax deductible.

Projects & Activities:
FYCAS assists Yolo County Animal Services primarily through seeking donations and grants to:
raise funds for a new, state-of-the-art shelter for Yolo County (our most ambitious project!);
enhance the conditions for animals for the period they are held at the shelter;
increase the rate of adoption of animals from the shelter;
implement and expand spay and neuter programs; support training of shelter personnel;
